Fire Technology

All Oxnard College Fire Technology classes are held off-campus at the Ventura County Training Center in Camarillo, California, adjacent to the Camarillo Airport in the proximity of the Pleasant Valley and Las Posas Road intersection.

The Oxnard College Fire Technology and Academy Program(s) are housed and maintained on a 16 acre complex that is shared with partner agencies, including the County Fire departmentThis partnership allows the college and partner agencies to leverage their resources by sharing equipment and facilities.This state-of-the-art training center provides students with an opportunity to receive the hands-on training required to meet the requirements and demands of fire technology industry.

We offer three AS Degree and/or certificate Levels in Fire Technology. This includes (1) Pre-Service/In-Service, (2) Administrative Services, and (3) an Associate in Science Degree and/or Certificate of Achievement.In effect, this college program provides students with the technical training needed to complete Certificate programs and/or the general education and technical training required to complete a two-year degree.Certificate programs focus on the specific technical training related to the occupation. AS Degree programs focus on both the technical training and the general education course work required for a degree. Both programs will prepare completers to enter gainful employment in the fire industry. Our two-year degree program also prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution if desired.

Specifically, the Fire Technology program prepares students to enter a variety of related occupations, including but not limited to:

• Firefighter
• Specialist in fire prevention and hazardous materials>
• Emergency Medical Technician
• Environmental Technology Specialist
• Or other professions related to fire technology.
• Fire Academy Program

The program also maintains a Fire Academy Program that provides students with an opportunity to earn a California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I Certificate, which is a condition of employment for many fire agencies.
