Welcome to Economic Development & Innovation
The Division of Economic Development and Innovation at Oxnard College was created to assist the college in meeting the unique needs of business and industry. This Division maintains economic development programs that are designed to help employers assess, develop, and receive customized training.
In particular, this Division oversees the college’s Economic and Workforce Development (EWD) projects that are sponsored by the State Chancellor’s Office. These regional projects include the Center for International Trade Development (CITD) and the Workplace Learning Resource Center (WpLRC). Both of these programs provide a variety of free services to employers in need of technical assistance on (a) how to strengthen and maintain a strong and competitive workforce and/or (b) how to increase their knowledge on the process for importing and exporting products. In addition, we maintain a Contract Education program that is designed to provide employers with customized training that is tailored to meet their specific needs. We have a vast inventory of training options that include English language training in the workplace, computer literacy, customer service, supervision, management and leadership, and an array of other topics. In terms of innovation, this Division was also created to house some of the college’s new and emerging programs, including Distance Education and our public television station known throughout the community as “OCTV.” The college’s Fire Technology Program, because of its customized training features, is also operated within this Division.
